A warm welcome to the East Solway Churches website. Perhaps you’re interested in learning about and visiting our historic church buildings made from Hadrian’s Wall stone; or perhaps you live within our parishes (or are moving in) and want to find out about the Christian faith, our Church life and our service times, or about weddings and baptisms etc. We hope you find the information and/or contacts that you want within our site.

May the Lord Jesus bless you

Church Life

The Barony of Burgh by Sands is currently in a vacancy as our previous Priest in Charge - Rev Tudor Boddam-Whetham has been appointed as Priest in Charge of St John's London Road and his induction service was held in November.

Our pattern of services continue as usual - a copy of the services can be downloaded from the panel opposite as well as in the Parish Magazine which can also be downloaded.

Anyone wishing to arrange a Baptism, Marriage or Funeral while we have no Priest-in-Charge is warmly encouraged to contact their local Churchwarden (please see the list in the Parish Magazine)

We have a friendly retired Vicar with whom we can put you in touch and he will be very happy to be of assistance.

The Mission of our churches is

‘Helping everyone enjoy life in all its fullness through being disciples of Jesus’

Life is best lived together, and with our maker … but as we’re all different we have a variety of ways listed below (in addition to Sunday services listed on the webpages for each church building) which we pray may help you explore/join/continue with us the best journey through this life and beyond – with God himself.

YOUNG PEOPLE & FAMILIES

At Church - All our churches have play areas and toys for children to use during services (and at other times).

At School – working in partnership with our local primary schools in Burgh-by-Sands, Great Orton, Kirkbampton and Wiggonby and the Christian charity NISCU (www.niscu.org.uk) we are involved in assemblies, RE lessons, and special services/assemblies for Harvest, Christmas, Easter etc.

In the Local Community - we are working together, and with other local Christians, to share the free love of God in Jesus at community events (such as School fairs, and events at the Watchtree Nature Reserve - www.watchtree.co.uk
