The Three Solway Churches
The Three Solway Churches are three lovely, medieval parish churches, along the Solway Coast west of Carlisle, and following the line of the Hadrian’s Wall Path and Cycleway. They are St Mary’s, Beaumont, St Michael’s, Burgh-by-Sands and St Michael’s, Bowness-on-Solway.
Each of these churches has a unique and fascinating story to tell and can provide not only a rich heritage experience for the local community and visitors but an important educational resource for schools both local and county-wide.
A lottery-funded collaboration between the three churches (The Three Solway Churches Development Project), has led to the improvement of facilities such as historical information boards and access. The three churches can now offer an enhanced experience for all visitors.
